This boldly colored scientific illustration is a large scale lithograph printed in four colors and displays detailed views of a) yellow-toned lichen growing on a section of wood, along with microscopic view of the cell structure. b) browned spots on leaves, with microscopic view of cell structure and c) brown and yellow toning on sword leaf, with detailed view of cell structure.
Not suffering from want of attribution to either artist or publisher, this bold modernist graphic was acquired as one of a collection of botanical, zoological and scientific wall charts produced in Copenhagen and Stockholm from the early twentieth century as school wall charts or teaching aids. Due to the finely detailed molecular cell structure represented, this highly likely illustrates the discoveries of noted plant pathologist Professor Jakob Eriksson (Hyllie, Sweden 1848-1931). And, due to quality of the paper and style of printing this fine piece was quite likely printed by Bengtsons Litografiska, Stockholm. Near Fine. Item #7244
