Known as the "Father of Art Education" Frank Cizek (1865-1946) was instrumental in establishing a basis for a pedagogical approach to teaching art by allowing the child's natural talents to unfold organically, focusing on creativity and freedom of expression unhampered by vocational or technical training from their teachers. His methods influenced the education reform movement as witnessed through Froebel and Montessori. His Juvenile Art Classes (Jugendkust Kunstgewerbeschule Wien) were free of charge to the children of Vienna. His ideas about the nature of children and art education became widespread through his Exhibition of Children's Art in London in 1934-35.
